Rainbow
Rainbow denim that changes over time, developing a rainbow hue. A mysterious fabric that transforms from deep indigo to seven colors the more you wear it. It's a special denim that symbolizes Uchida Sewing's craftsmanship, making you look forward to its daily evolution.
In conventional denim, white warp yarns are rope-dyed with indigo. Rainbow denim, on the other hand, involves first dyeing the core of the warp yarns with colors such as red, green, or yellow, and then indigo dyeing over that. While it looks like regular denim, as it is worn and the indigo fades, the hidden threads underneath emerge, resulting in a vibrant color fade.
In 2018, all of our Rainbow Denim was lost in the West Japan Floods. To revive it, we launched a crowdfunding campaign in 2022. Denim fans across Japan contributed over 50 million yen, allowing us to bring the fabric back to life.
