FABRIC

SOUSHI
two-ply yarn
This denim is made using double yarn for both the warp and weft, created by twisting together two single threads. The warp and weft yarns are first dyed orange and yellow, then twisted together, and finally dyed with indigo. As you wear the denim, the indigo will fade, revealing the underlying orange and yellow hues. These colors will intricately blend, creating a deep, aged appearance as if the denim has been worn for many years.

By using two-ply yarn, the weaker parts of each yarn complement each other, resulting in a stronger yarn. Furthermore, by twisting the two-ply yarn in the opposite direction (S-twist) to the direction of the single yarn's twist (Z-twist), the twist is appropriately loosened, creating a supple fabric with a pleasant texture.

We wanted to deliver comfortable and durable denim to the local community members who have supported Uchida Sewing since its establishment. With that in mind, we launched the Double-Twisted Yarn Denim Project, which raised over 30 million yen in donations. We were able to present denim products to every household in the Shinyamagata area of Tsuyama City, approximately 120 households.
